A potential Meta bond offering could raise at least $20 billion, Bloomberg News reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. Reuters carried the report at 5:56 pm UTC, or 11:26 pm IST.
No final decision has been made, and the size of the possible cross-border offering could increase depending on investor demand, Reuters reported. Meta had not publicly confirmed the proposed transaction at the time of writing. The report does not establish that a sale has been launched or that the company has committed to a minimum amount.
The possible debt offering would come days after Meta priced separate equity-related transactions. In a release dated October 27, the company said it priced $25 billion of Class A common stock and a preferred-share offering expected to generate about $12.5 billion in net proceeds. Meta said the preferred-share proceeds would be used for general corporate purposes. The common-stock offering was structured through forward-sale agreements, with settlement expected on or before November 19, 2027.
Those equity transactions are separate from the potential bond offering described by Bloomberg. Neither the Reuters report nor Meta’s October 27 release identified a specific use of proceeds for any proposed bond sale. It would therefore be premature to describe the possible debt as financing for a particular data center, AI, or acquisition program.

If Meta proceeds, investors would look for details including the currencies, maturities, coupon rates, pricing, covenants, and intended use of proceeds. A cross-border offering could broaden the potential investor base, but the terms would depend on market conditions and demand. None of those terms had been disclosed in the report.
The wider technology sector is committing substantial capital to computing infrastructure, including data centers and networking equipment. That backdrop makes Meta’s financing choices relevant to technology and capital markets, but the available report does not say that bond proceeds would be allocated to AI infrastructure.

Meta’s investor-relations announcement of the October equity offerings provides a confirmed example of the company’s recent capital raising. The proposed bond sale remains a reported possibility until Meta makes an announcement or a filing provides further details.
